There’s a shared truth between surfers: if you love surfing, you love the ocean.

When it comes to standing up for the places we love, for the past few years Rip Curl has been right there with us, helping protect the beaches and waves that shape who we are.

Over the past year, Rip Curl Australia's crew has made a real impact by raising funds through in-store initiatives, donating proceeds from surf wax sales and 100% of paper bag purchases directly to Surfrider. These everyday actions might seem small, but the impact has been anything but...

  • Celebrated two major campaign wins against offshore oil and gas exploration projects threatening the Southern Ocean and the East Coast.

  • Kept the lights and the pressure on — enabling our team of 3 dedicated surfers to keep doing what we do best: protect the coastline.

  • Supported grassroots action through our volunteer branches across the country, keeping local communities engaged and empowered to defend their beaches.

  • Got it done: In numbers for 2025 alone, Surfrider and our volunteers have stopped a major oil & gas project, hosted 11 community education events across Australia, helped our scientific research about the impact of climate on waves reach over 200 million people across the globe, tested water quality hundreds of times, picked up several tons of ocean plastics, and supported 5 community led campaigns to protect the coast.

It’s been a busy start to the year, but there’s plenty more in the pipeline.

Surfrider campaigns are built on grit, science, and community power. However, none of this would be possible without the support of brands like Rip Curl. Your commitment to the coast goes beyond words — it shows up in action, and it shows up at a time when the coast really needs all the support it can get.

So, from all of us at Surfrider: thank you. Thank you for choosing to give back to the ocean that gives us everything.

We’re proud to ride this wave with you — and we’re stoked to see where the next one takes us!
