Surf Not Salmon opposes the expansion of salmon farming in Tasmanian waters.
On 21 May 2021, over 400 surfers and beach lovers braved chilly conditions at Surf Not Salmon Paddle Outs around Tasmania to show their opposition to salmon farm expansion.
The Tasmanian salmon industry aspires to double in size in the next 10 years raising concerns in coastal and surfing communities about the impact this will have on the coastlines they love.
The statewide event, organised by Surf Not Salmon and supported by Surfrider Foundation Australia, was held at locations including Park Beach at Dodges Ferry, Lauderdale Beach, Long Beach at Sandy Bay, Scamander and Stanley.
