The Sunshine Coast branch looks after an extensive stretch of pristine coastline, from Caloundra to Noosa and on to Double Island Point. We keep busy with regular beach cleans and dune care across the entire region and educational presentations within schools.
Our principal local campaign is the award-winning Clean Up Double Island (CUDI) Weekend. Generally held in October, this overnight event includes live music and activities for groms, attracting over 200 volunteers and removing more than 5 tonnes of rubbish from this paradise each year.
Surfrider Sunshine Coast is campaigning strongly for the removal of shark nets from Laguna Bay, Noosa Heads. We are part of the Oceans for All alliance of local environmental groups advocating for more effective and humane technologies to replace shark nets.
