Surfrider Foundation South Australia is a community-led chapter dedicated to protecting, restoring, and celebrating South Australia’s unique coastline.
Driven by local surfers, SCUBA divers, ocean lovers, and environmental advocates, the chapter focuses on grassroots action, science-informed advocacy, and community engagement to address the challenges facing our coast; such as coastal erosion, water quality issues, and particularly, providing hope and action during the impacts of the Harmful Algal Bloom (HAB).
With a strong emphasis on collaboration, Surfrider SA works alongside local communities, scientists, creatives, and partner organisations to deliver meaningful projects that make sustained change to SA seas. This includes citizen science initiatives with diving partners, marine restoration efforts, community education, music gigs, and events that reconnect people with the ocean – empowering them to be active stewards of the beloved peninsula.
As the voice of the coast in South Australia, the chapter is committed to learning fast, acting responsibly, and building a movement that puts community, care, and the environment first to ensure we have a coastline that can thrive for generations to come.
