Surfrider MORNINGTON PENINSULAR
We are Peninsula Surf Riders. A diverse group of community volunteers devoted to stand for the biodiversity of Westernport bay and its coastal areas. We advocate for the protection of Westernport from AGL’s proposal to further industrialise the bay.
We aim to empower the community through peaceful events that promote connection, awareness, and alternative renewable energy development options.
Branch President is Dingo Spender. Dingo was born in Sth Australia in 1978 and lives in Balnarring with his family. He is an awarded musician and composer and has surfed the local beaches in the Mornington Peninsula for the last 7 years. He is a passionate advocate for preserving bio diversity and ocean health and dedicated to his community.
Vice president is Sacha Guggenheimer. Sacha is a marine biologist, director of an ocean safe sunscreen business and coordinator of plastic source reduction strategies on the Mornington Peninsula. She finds pleasure in being a bridge between wildlife and people, hoping to always leave a seed of optimism with her audience through sharing empowering ways to engage with and help care for our planet

FIGHT FOR THE BIGHT
We rallied communities from around the bay to join in the National Day of Action to stand up to Equinor’s planes to drill for oil in The Great Australian Bight. In February 2020 they withdrew their plans.
