Sunshine Coast Double Island Point Clean Up
Pack your surfboards and camping gear, for the 10th DOUBLE ISLAND CLEAN UP / CAMPING WEEKEND 5-6-7 May 2017.
Book it in your diaries & register your details now.
The Sunshine Coast branch is hosting bi-annual Beach Clean Up / Camping weekend, where quite literally hundreds of people converge along the beaches from Noosa Northshore - Double Island Point, for a 60km beach clean up blitz with FEE Exempt Camping & 4x4 access for all volunteers! On average 2 TONNES of rubbish and marine debris are picked up off this paradise every 6 months by all of us and loaded away in tippers by the legends at QPWS. We also get to sorting, recycling and recording our findings through Tangaroa Blue's database. Clean up bags are supplied and tip fees in kind thanks to Noosa and Gympie councils.
On Saturday afternoon we all get together to reward everyone for the massive effort they've undertaken and have a bit of fun too! Volunteers can WIN a share in over $2000 worth of PRIZES donated in the Complimentary Prize Raffle and as part of Educational Presentations, with games and activities for the kids.
The educational component ties in too, discussing the issues of marine debris, our plastic footprint, and the increasing recreational pressure for "D.I." over recent years that has led to serious concerns about environmental damage, public safety (including health risks), and visitor expectations. This is an open forum with information & petitions for everyone, that we also invite all to attend from: Kabi Kabi/Gubbi Gubbi; QPWS; & the Councils.
It's a WIN, WIN for everyone, but most importantly for our oceans, beaches and all biomass! ALL WELCOME! Bring your family and friends and help us spread the word. Come for a day trip or make it a long weekend, it's your call. Let’s have a great weekend in paradise together and help to keep this magical place clean, now and into the future!

It must be remembered that volunteers do not receive a free Permit. Instead, volunteers are receiving a Permit in exchange for ‘unpaid’ work. We value the hard work of the volunteers just as much as the volunteers appreciate their hard-earned Permit. We reserve the right to assess the contents of the bags returned, in view of issuing reward BBQ and Raffle Tix. We are sure, there will be no problems with this in 2017.
