Pack your surfboards and camping gear, for the 10th DOUBLE ISLAND CLEAN UP / CAMPING WEEKEND.  5-6-7 May 2017.  Book it in your diaries & register your details now (see below).

The Sunshine Coast branch is hosting bi-annual Beach Clean Up / Camping weekend, where quite literally hundreds of people converge on along the beaches from Noosa Northshore - Double Island Point, for a 60km beach clean up blitz with FEE Exempt Camping & 4x4 access for all volunteers!

On average 2 TONNES of rubbish and marine debris are picked up off this paradise every 6 months by all of us and loaded away in tippers by the legends at QPWS. We also get to sorting, recycling and recording our findings through Tangaroa Blue's database. Clean up bags are supplied and tip fees in kind thanks to Noosa and Gympie councils.

On Saturday afternoon we all get together to reward everyone for the massive effort they've undertaken and have a bit of fun too! Volunteers can WIN a share in over $2000 worth of PRIZES donated in the Complimentary Prize Raffle and as part of Educational Presentations, with games and activities for the kids.

The educational component tied in too, discussing the issues of marine debris, our plastic footprint, and the increasing recreational pressure for "D.I." over recent years that has led to serious concerns about environmental damage, public safety (including health risks), and visitor expectations. This is an open forum with information & petitions for everyone.

It's a WIN, WIN for everyone, but most importantly for our oceans, beaches and all biomass! ALL WELCOME! Bring your family and friends and help us spread the word. Come for a day trip or make it a long weekend, it's your call. Let’s have a great weekend in paradise together and help to keep this magical place clean, now and into the future!

HOW IT ALL WORKS

1. You register your details with us (see below, "REGISTRATON")
2. We put that info on a spreadsheet to send to QPWS, so you're covered under our activity permit, and our insurances.
3. Turn up, help out, enjoy!

FRIDAY. Beach Clean Up, Sorting & Recycling, Evening Movie.
SATURDAY. Beach Clean Up, Sorting & Recycling, Activities & Presentations. BBQ, Live Music & communal campfire.

SUNDAY. Data collation. Load tipper trucks with rubbish and pack down.

We'll have a marquee located at the barge and at "Surfrider HQ", where you can sign in, grab your gear, and instructions, and head off to start cleaning. Once you've filled your bags, bring them back and grab your raffle tickets…. Tiered prize categories will be set out for the amount of bags returned or effort put in, for tickets you'll collect.  So go nuts!
