Clean Up Australia Day

Surfrider members and other volunteers cleaned up Moana beach on a very busy Sunday, while a large Surf Life Saving Carnival was on. We picked up ten large bags of rubbish with the assistance of the Surf Life Saving volunteers who also cleaned up after the event.

Coastal Restoration – Southern Fleurieu

A coastal restoration project at a remote site on the Southern Fleurieu coastline had made significant progress with an extensive amount of weed control performed by contractors and volunteers inaddition to some revegetation planning for degraded sites this Winter.

Many hands make light work – The site at Moana the previous year being planted with seedlings grown by Corey Jackson from local seed.

National Tree Day – Moana Sand Dunes

Also, National Tree Day is coming up and we are planning on planting seedlings in the Moana Sand Dunes (pictured above) to stabilize the eroding North West corner. The area backing on to this site is a conservation park and we will help the Local Friends group to plant their seedlings at the conclusion of our planting task on our site.

We are planning to work with Surfing SA in the future to assist with their environmental improvement goals.
